ANCHORED HEART THERAPY
IS A SAFE SPACE FOR ALL
My practice specializes in serving the queer community, folks in larger bodies, and those who find themselves to be "other."
SERVICES
I provide a wide range of therapy services for individuals, families, and couples. All sessions take place via Telehealth for residents of Oregon.
ABOUT ME
Hi, I’m Jillyan (she/her)
I am a queer, biracial, Marriage and Family Therapist Associate. My practice is LGBTQ+ affirming, fat positive (Health at Every Size), trauma-informed, anti-racist, and pro disability. I utilize a systems approach. I use interventions from Narrative Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, and Queer Theory. I believe problems occur in context and are influenced by our societal systems. I specialize in working with individuals, families, and relationship systems (couples, etc). I aim to create a safe space for folks to explore their stories and reauthor them.
Coming to therapy is a brave choice that takes vulnerability, courage, and energy. I strive to maintain empathy, compassion, and openness with each of the clients I work with. I value a collaborative relationship that allows my clients to steer treatment in the direction most useful to them. Growth and change can be difficult. My hopes are that by providing a supportive and non-judgmental space, I can assist the clients that I work with in overcoming challenges and reaching their goals.
Regardless of what your experience looks like, I am here to provide compassionate care for all of my clients. I believe that we are our own greatest healers. My desire to be a therapist comes from my belief that all of us are worthy of love and care.
Outside of the therapy room, I love spending time with my partner and two puppies.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
I hold a Master’s degree in Marriage, Couple, and Family Therapy from Lewis & Clark College. I also hold a Bachelor's degree in Psychology from California State University, Fullerton.
During my graduate program, I worked for two years in a residential setting with adults who experienced a variety of mental health crises. I also have worked in school systems, specifically in the special education realm. During my graduate clinical training, I completed year long internships at the Lewis and Clark Community Counseling Center, as well as at Children’s Center where I worked with preteens to teenagers and their families.
